Bill Hutchison leads the Intelligent Communities initiative for Waterfront Toronto, the world’s largest urban revitalization project valued at $17 billion. Previously, he advised on the creation of Hong Kong’s CyberPort; he was the Global Chairman, Telecommunications Industry for Ernst & Young and he has more than 30 years of experience as a senior executive in CEO roles in telecom, media and IT companies. In addition to his global responsibilities at E & Y, Bill was also responsible for building the firm’s IT Consulting and Integration practice from 20 th position to 2 nd in Canada in three years. He has built and rebuilt companies around the world.

Some of Mr. Hutchison’s career highlights include; tripling Arthur Andersen’s Asia/Pacific media, telecom and technology practices to $160 million within 3 years, returning Consolidated Computer Inc. to profitability with a five-fold increase in global revenue and restructuring all elements of its business operations, and expanding Quorum Growth International Inc.’s Asia/Pacific’s operations, which became the gateway for Canadian technology products for the entire Asia/Pacific region.

Hailed as a pioneer, Mr. Hutchison helped build Canada’s technology infrastructure. Under the Prime Minister of Canada, he was the Founding Vice-Chairman of the National Advisory Board for Science and Technology and the Founding Chairman of CANARIE Inc, which has led the development of Canada’s advanced Internet research and education infrastructure. He established the first American firm in Malaysia’s Multi Media Super Corridor and he was the co-founder of SMART Toronto. In 2006 Mr. Hutchison received the first Lifetime Achievement Award presented by the World Intelligent Community Forum, and was elected a “Fellow” of the Canadian Information Processing Society.
