Joe King has served as Danville’s Assistant City Manger for Utilities since October 2002. He is responsible for managing the city’s electric, natural gas, water, wastewater, and telecommunications services. His 30 years of local government experience includes service as County Administrator in Los Alamos, New Mexico, as City Manager in Richland, Washington and Lexington, Virginia, and in department head positions in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, and Texarkana, Arkansas.

Before coming to Danville, he served two years in Indonesia as a local government consultant with the International City/County Management Association.

Joe King holds bachelor and master's degrees in urban affairs from Virginia Tech.
